Bonefish Grill’s Colossal menu one to remember

Until recently, I never paid much attention to a restaurant’s seasonal menu. Every now and then I will venture off into a menu’s new items, but often times I order the same dish. A few weeks ago all of that changed when I discovered Bonefish Grill’s Colossal Winter Menu, and believe me – there is nothing small about this menu.

For my birthday, my boyfriend, and I decided to give the new menu a try. Plus, I love seafood so I was very excited. We were placed at a booth toward the back of the restaurant and given one of the “best servers,” as stated by the hostess.

We were immediately greeted by restaurant manager Matt Harris and introduced to Glen, our server.

The dimmed lights and upscale atmosphere were relaxing. For starters we ordered drinks and an appetizer, the Bang Bang Shrimp dish, which I’d previously heard was fantastic. My boyfriend ordered the White Winter Cosmopolitan, which is on the winter menu, and I ordered a Bonefish Pomegranate Martini.

The dish included a bed of crispy shrimp tossed in a creamy and spicy apricot colored sauce. Both drinks were sweet and infused with fruit flavors.

About 10 minutes later as Glen began taking our order, I noticed something. Instead of taking our order using traditional pen and paper, he whipped out an iPad and began furiously typing. I had never seen electronics used to take orders and I thought this was quite unique. Again, I love seafood and the Colossal Winter Menu was full of it. I decided to order the Alaskan King Crab Legs served already cracked with red bliss potatoes, steamed asparagus and warm butter. My boyfriend ordered the Sirloin + Colossal Shrimp Scampi dish, a 6 oz. steak topped with three colossal shrimp and scampi butter sauce.

In between our order being taken and our meals being brought to the table, we were also served fresh baked bread with a dipping sauce, which consisted of olive oil and pesto. After the Bang Bang Shrimp dish, the Bonefish Pomegranate Martini and the warm bread, I was beginning to become full. About 15 minutes later, the food arrived.

The Alaskan King Crab Legs were the biggest crab legs I’d ever seen, and trust me, I’ve had my fair share. I appreciated them arriving already cracked, as I didn’t have to fight with them too much to enjoy. Of course, when one orders crab legs at traditional seafood restaurants, a cup of butter warmed in the kitchen accompanies the dish. At Bonefish, that cup of butter arrived in its own butter warmer. The appliance looked similar to a petite saucepan with a miniature candle underneath covered in a decorative shell.

My boyfriend’s Sirloin + Colossal Shrimp Scampi looked delicious as well. “Colossal” was no understatement, the shrimp scampi was enormous, something you’d expect to be served at a restaurant on the ocean’s coast. Both the steak and shrimp were well seasoned and cooked to perfection.

Throughout the evening, the service was great and the attentive manager checked on us often. I highly recommend Bonefish Grill’s traditional and Colossal Winter Menu for seafood lovers.
