High energy, high praise

More by this author

Non-stop hand clapping praise, and foot stomping worship is what you can expect at a live Judah Band performance. The Christian band incorporates fun, and individuality into their music, which represents their faith in Christ.Ā

Founded in 2010 by Randy Weston, Judah Band commits to their faith, and love of Christ with one mission in mind, to give ā€œGod Glory.ā€Ā

Besides Weston, the band’s Facebook page lists its members as including: Terrance “T Denn” Dennie, Music Director; Pheldon “PJ” Majors, drummer; Shawn Davis, bassist; Amber Weston, vocalist; Chauneesha “Neesha” Lester, vocalist; Cierra “Ci” Cantrell, vocalist; Jerren Young, vocalist; and Michael “Mich” Weston, vocalist.

The talented group recently finished the new album ā€œThe Return of Gloryā€ and members say they are excited for the public to hear their interpretation of gospel music.

ā€œThe Return of Gloryā€ is scheduled for release Tuesday, March 31.

The Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper recently interviewed Weston about Judah Band’s style, new album, and dedicated fans.

Recorder: Why are your shows so energetic?

Randy Weston: That is almost a question I can’t answer. (laughs) I cannot answer because we prepare the same way we perform so the energy stays active.

Describe the Judah Band style.

We create a lot of our own style by having clothing made. We are getting ready to add the Glam Shop where people will be able get our trends for example: the tutus the ladies wear, jewelry we make, and all unique glasses we wear. We typically create together our styles in unison and it accompanies our music stage performance.

What do you think is the biggest misconception about gospel artists?

The biggest misconception about gospel artists is we are expected to be perfect without flaws, when we are human like everyone else. Also, not having much room for forgiveness when in fact we are granted the same amount of forgiveness in God’s eyes.Ā

What challenges do you face, and do these challenges affect your performances?

Sometimes it’s challenging to be able to keep our ears tuned in to what God is saying because its human nature to deal with trials. Overcoming daily battles is a challenge within itself.

What can fans expect from your upcoming album ā€œThe Return of Gloryā€?

Fans can expect a lot of different genres on the new album. There will be an enormous amount of high energy, praise, and a very sincere record containing a vast volume of power.

How do fans support you?

Fans support us greatly, we had our pre-season CD release party on the day of a big snowstorm and they showed up in great numbers. Over 800 people showed up— we have very supportive fans.

Are there any words you want to leave your fans with?

I want people in this season to open their mind to a broader perspective of who God is. We have limited God because of our views. My encouragement would be to open your minds for God to show you who he really is.
