To me, the brand new B Spot restaurant is innovative, fun and an eatery with phenomenal food!
B Spot is the brainchild of celebrity chef Michael Symon. This restaurateur is also a co-host on ABC networkās āThe Chew.ā He has B Spot restaurants in Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio; Detroit, Mich.; and now Indianapolis in the Ironworks at Keystone plaza near 86th Street and Keystone Avenue.
My husband Andre and I attended a private dinner a few days before B Spotās grand opening. When we arrived, I found the tone and dĆ©cor casual, but polished. It was fancy enough for various dining reasons, but a place where families could be comfy. Since our baby was in tow, we appreciated the hostess graciously accommodating our seating preferences.
Once seated and settled, I opened the menu and felt a wave of excitement. When I saw the items listed, I knew I was in for a treat. Burger, bologna and brats? Who does that? The answer: a risk taker who loves meat.
To be honest, I didnāt even consider any other items on the menu. I was there for the burgers. They serve standards like cheeseburgers, but what made me giddy was that there are items that make you ask, āwhere has this burger been all my life?ā
I thought the Lola burger seemed interesting: a burger with a sunny side up egg, bacon, pickled red onions and cheddar cheese.
My colleague Victoria (who has said on record she likes her food hot) would love the spiciness of the Atomic burger that has ghost chili, pickled jalapenos, pepper jack cheese and habanero sauce on it.
I decided on the Fat Doug: a beef burger with coleslaw, pastrami, stadium-style mustard and Swiss cheese. In an attempt to remain conscious of his eating habits, my husband ordered the Gobbler: a turkey burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, sriracha mayo and Swiss cheese. We also got the Porky Fries: a bed of French fries topped with cheese whiz, pulled pork and pickled jalapenos.
I dug into the fries first. As a journalist, I should always be able to use descriptive words, but all I could do was make sounds.
And to make the fries even more sinful, our server suggested we put a bit of the coffee barbecue sauce on them, which was conveniently located in a sauce caddy on our table.
After inhaling the fries, I turned to my burger. It was a meat fest on a well-buttered bun and was āslap yo mammaā delicious.
My husband savored his burger too.
To wash down our tasty fare, we had the Chocolate Banana Marshmallow milkshake and Coke products.
Though we only provided gratuity on this special night, had we paid for our meal, we would have happily spent $40.
When we return, I am certainly going to try a bologna sandwich and encourage my husband to get one of his beloved brats.
In addition to burgers, brats and bologna, B Spot has a kidās menu, build-your-own-burger options, a pickle bar and a full page of beer options.
Guess who has a new favorite restaurant? This girl right here!
