Two Men and a Truck is giving back to mothers in need with the annual Movers for Moms donation drive, a national campaign that began in 2007.
Now through May 12, Two Men and a Truck in Indianapolis is partnering with local businesses to collect items to donate to the Salvation Army Shelter for Women and Children and Sheltering Wings in honor of Mother’s Day.
Scott Hodgin, marketing director for Two Men and a Truck in Indianapolis, said the company is collecting women’s essential care items — everything from shampoo and soaps to clothes and blankets — as well as items for children.
Hodgin said touring and working with the women’s shelters has been “a life-changing experience,” and he’s proud of his company’s grassroots efforts to support the community.
“We have fewer than 100 employees. We don’t have the ability just to write checks,” he said. “Our motto is movers who care, and we try to show that and give back to the community.”
Last year’s Movers for Moms program was the most successful to-date, with more than 285,000 items collected for hundreds of shelters nationwide. The company is aiming to top that this year by collecting 300,000 items for moms across the country — including 2,500 items in Indianapolis.
