Text service assists caregivers of young children

More by this author

WFYI Public Media has launched a free text-messaging program to assist parents and caregivers in the development of newborns to 5-year-olds. The program uses research-based, expert content that is delivered via text message directly to a person’s phone. Messages will offer information on health and safety, early literacy, nutrition and other topics, and also include URLs linking users to more in-depth information and helpful videos. Users will receive no more than four messages per week per registered child and can opt out at any time. Each message contains age-appropriate information based on the child’s birthdate used during registration. Anyone can receive the messages, available in English and Spanish, by texting ā€œWFYIā€ to 274448. More information is available at wfyi.org/bright.
