Whether you are hosting a Halloween party for grown-ups or little ones, making attention-grabbing and festive treats doesn’t have to mean investing a ton of time or money. These eerie indulgences are sure to please any palate, and they are fairly simple to whip up.
For the kids: Black Widow cookies
Your little goblins will love creating these spooky snacks.
You will need:
– Sugar cookie dough (You can use store-bought refrigerated sugar cookie dough or make some from scratch.)
– Two chocolate candies, one slightly larger than the other (I used malted milk balls and chocolate bridge mix to make the body of the spider.
– Brown or black icing tube to draw the spiders’ legs
– Red icing tube to create the signature black widow mark
Directions:
Bake cookies as directed. Remove from oven and place a malted milk ball and a smaller piece of chocolate on the cookie to form the center of the spider. Use chocolate icing to draw the spider’s legs, and use red icing to place a dot on the spider’s back. Enjoy!
For the grown folks: The Poisoned Apple
Ghouls aren’t the only spirits that partygoers will be on the lookout for this Halloween. Create a cauldron full of “boos” that will be sure to enchant your guests.
You will need:
– 2 ounces of apple cider
– 1 ounce of pomegranate juice
– 2 ounces of tequila
– Several chips of dry ice
Directions:
Combine cider, pomegranate juice and tequila in a martini shaker. Shake to mix. Add small chips of dry ice to the drink to create a smoky effect. Enjoy!
