First Thursday nights at The Children’s Museum

Carrie Mae Weems at IUPUI

Join Herron School of Art and Design for the 2018 Jane Fortune Outstanding Women Visiting Artist Lecture with Carrie Mae Weems at 5:30 p.m. April 4 in the Basile Auditorium of Eskenazi Hall on the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus. This event is free and open to the public. Contemporary American artist Carrie Mae Weems has investigated issues of race, gender and class for over thirty years. Her artwork aims to raise important questions about cultural identity and the politics of representation. Seating is limited.

Celebrate Unity

The Ball State University Black Alumni Constituent Society (BACS) is sponsoring a Celebration of Unity Concert 7-9:30 p.m. April 14 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th St. The concert features Voice of Triumph Gospel Choir, Krash Krew Dance Ministries, Unified Praise and Shawn Cowherd. Tickets are $5, students; $19, adults; $17, group of 10 or more, and children 5 and under are free. Tickets are available at www.BACSCelebrateUnity18.eventbrite.com. The deadline to purchase online is April 6. Proceeds benefit BACS Scholarships.
