Cultural Cannibals will present an HD broadcast of the National Theatre of London’s FELA! at 5 p.m. on Feb. 5 in the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s Toby Theater.

A provocative and wholly unique hybrid of dance, theatre and music, FELA! explores the world of legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti whose soulful Afrobeat rhythms ignited a generation.

The Broadway hit is the winner of three 2010 Tony Awards including “Best Choreography.”

Using his pioneering music (a blend of jazz, funk and African rhythm and harmonies), FELA! reveals Kuti’s controversial life as an artist and political activist.

Featuring many of Fela Kuti’s most captivating songs and Bill T. Jones’ visionary staging, FELA! – an original new creation – comes via Broadway to London and the National Theatre.

Reviews of the production have been glowing. “There should be dancing in the streets. There has never been anything like

this,” stated Ben Brantley of the New York Times. “Top 10 Shows of 2009.

It’s a work of total theatre and a party where the power of the people is unleashed with a contagious jiggle,” wrote the Los Angeles Times. “Radiates joy,” said Entertainment Weekly.

You may experience it for yourself in the Toby Theater at the IMA, 4000 Michigan Rd. General admission is $15; $12 fore students and seniors. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit www.CulturalCannibals.com.
