Kurt Elling will be at Jazz Kitchen
The Jazz Kitchen will host Kurt Elling on Feb. 12 for shows at 7:30 and 10 p.m.
Joining the Grammy award-winning vocalist will be guitarist John McLean and his top collaborator, pianist Lawrence Hobgood.

Elling is among the worldās foremost jazz vocalists. He has been named āMale Singer of the Yearā by the Jazz Journalists Association on half a dozen occasions in the past 10 years.

Valentineās Day dance, concert
The public is invited to join the nationally-recognized Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra, and their talented vocalists,Ā for a romanticĀ evening of world-class big band entertainment.
It will be Feb. 13 beginning at 7 p.m. in the Athenaeum Theatre, 401E. Michigan St. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
The special concert and dance will highlight popularĀ music from the Great American SongbookĀ concerning love, romance and affairs of the heart. Featured songs will includeĀ āMy Funny Valentine,ā āIām in the Mood for Love,ā āSecret Love,ā āHeart and Soul,ā āMy Foolish Heart,ā āOur Love Is Here to Stay,ā plus many more.
Dancers will experience the Athenaeum Theatreās new, large, permanent wooden dance floor that will be open for swing, ballroom and casual dancing.Ā This event also has reserved table seating and will offer a full cash bar with snacks.

A2Z Italian CafƩ plans Valentine specials
A2Z Italian CafĆ©, 4705 E. 96th St., has planned a special Valentineās Day menu for Feb. 12, 13 and 14.
The dinner will include an appetizer to share, choice of lobster bisque or spinach and pear salad, and a choice of entrƩe with sides.
EntrƩe choices are beef filet mignon, sautƩed halibut, chicken Margherita, lobster ravioli and eggplant Parmesan.
The cost of the Valentineās Day dinner is $75 per couple and includes live music from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Buck Creek will do āBarbecuing Hamletā
The Buck Creek Players will continue their season with Pat Cookās hilarious tribute to life on the community theater stage, āBarbecuing Hamlet.āĀ Opening Feb. 4, and running for two weekends through Feb. 13, curtain times are at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with 2:30 p.m. matinees on Sundays.
All performances will be at the Buck Creek Playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Ave. Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for children, students and senior citizens (ages 62 and older) and can be reserved by calling (317) 862-2270.
Wayne Township āOklahoma!ā auditions
Wayne Township Community Theatre has released audition times for its 2011 season show āOklahoma!ā
Auditions will be April 4-5 at 7 p.m. Auditions are open and a large, diverse cast of men, women and children are encouraged to audition.
Performances will run Thursday-Saturday June 9-18. Auditions will be held at the Ben Davis High School Theatre. Enter through door 2.
Auditioners should bring sheet music of a prepared song to sing in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided. Auditioners should also be prepared to dance. You may also be asked to read from the script. Please bring a list of all conflicts you may have during the run of the show.

Gardens to honor M.L. King, Lincoln
The Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick will build āluminary gardensā honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Abraham Lincoln as the last two gardens planned in the Glick Peace Walk.
The walk is dedicated to individuals who achieved greatness through peaceful pursuits. The Peace Walk includes 12 distinctive sculptural gardens that celebrate the lives and accomplishments of these āluminaries.ā
Dr. Kingās garden will be located on the southeast corner of Washington Street, Virginia Avenue and Pennsylvania Street.
Lincolnās garden will be located on the southwest corner of Washington Street and Capitol Avenue.
Art @ Clowes features Wiley E. Dummich
Art @ Clowes, a rotating exhibit at Clowes Memorial Hall of works from local artists, features abstract artist Wiley E. Dummich. The exhibit, which contains more than 20 pieces, is on display now through Feb. 11 in the main lobby of Clowes.
