Civic Theatre

to hold auditions

The Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre will hold auditions next month for its spring musical, “Cabaret,” and “Miss Saigon.”

Auditions for both shows will be Jan. 3 and 4 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Civic Theatre on the campus of Marian University (3200 Cold Spring Rd.).

“Cabaret” tells the story of a cabaret singer, an American writer and the citizens of Berlin as they are caught in the swirling maelstrom of a changing society on the eve of Hitler’s rise to power.

Loosely based on Puccini’s opera “Madam Butterfly,” “Miss Saigon” tells the tragic tale of a doomed romance involving an Asian woman abandoned by her American lover. The setting of the plot is relocated to 1970s Saigon during the Vietnam War.

Civic Theatre holds open auditions and no appointments are necessary.

A free audition prep session will take place on Dec. 27 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. This informational meeting will provide interested actors with the tools necessary to prepare for auditions.

For more information, call (317) 924-6770.
