INDIANAPOLIS (AP) _ Indianapolis police say gunfire broke out during a fight at a large party, leaving a 15-year-old boy dead and a 16-year-old wounded.
The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. Sunday on the city’s east side. They identify the dead boy as Deontae Giles. Police say the 16-year-old boy is expected to survive.
Sgt. Linda M. Jackson says officers answering a report of shots fired found Giles lying on the street. She says he died soon after.
Jackson says no other injuries have been reported. She says detectives have conducted dozens of interviews but says there were no other details of the cause of the fight or search for suspects.
