Moe’s Southwest Grill brings the flavor

More by this author

Recently, I parked my car in the Moe’s Southwest Grill parking lot and strolled in to see what this southwest grill was all about.

As soon as you enter you are likely to be greeted by everyone shouting, “Welcome to Moe’s.” I love hospitality, especially when it’s genuine, and that’s what I encountered while at Moe’s.

The eatery is by all means simple. When I think of Mexican food I immediately think of large portions. Which is nice but sometimes that’s overwhelming. At Moe’s the size options are nice because if one has enough self-discipline they can restrain themselves. I feel like a lot of Mexican places don’t even give you the option so you leave feeling bloated and uneasy – not a good combination. Ha!

Moe’s is surprisingly different. I ordered a Joey Jr. burrito, which is a smaller burrito served with your choice of protein in a flour or whole grain tortilla with seasoned rice, beans, shredded cheese and pico de gallo. I ordered their all natural, cage-free and hormone free white chicken breast. A bonus is every meal comes with free chips and salsa. Score! The white meat is a great alternative from greasy dark meat like at other restaurants. The burrito was so refreshing. I chose a side of queso sauce as well because no burrito is complete without it.

Overall I was more than satisfied with my Joey Jr. because it was relaxed and not packed with unnecessary ingredients. Oh and the best part is Moe’s offers fresh ingredients daily.

Moe’s is a cool, little western joint. The décor was filled with spicy colors including orange, green and red.

There are various photos of artists on the wall including Michael Jackson, Ray Charles and Elvis Presley. Except it’s not really the artist, it’s portraits of look-alikes. The contest is called Dead Ringer Contest for people who are a “dead ringer for a dead rocker.” These are everyday people who submit photos of the deceased star they look like. It’s simply remarkable. I swore they were the real artists. The photos hung throughout the place definitely explains the pop-culture music played in the eatery.

It also adds a unique touch to Moe’s. Great food, service and decor is always a winner.
