Anderson Indiana Black Expo kicks off Summer Festival this week

This week, the Anderson chapter of the Indiana Black Expo will kick off its 2015 Summer Festival. 

The organization, whose mission is to be an effective voice and vehicle for the social and economic advancement of African-Americans, will open the festival with an ecumenical service held this evening at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, 2124 Cedar Street. The guest speaker will be Pastor Kenneth Sullivan and doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday June 25 

Anderson Black Expo Prayer Walk – 5:00 pm

Dickman Town Center Plaza 

Anderson Black Expo “Know Your Rights” Outreach Forum – 6:30 p.m

(presented by the Indiana Civil Rights Commission)

Madison County Community Health Center,1547 Ohio Ave.

ABE Talent Showcase – 6:30 p.m.

Anderson City Auditorium, 120 E. 8th Street 

(show begins at 7:00 p.m.)

Friday June 26 

Summer Festival Opening Ceremony – 5:00 p.m.

highlights from the Talent Showcase & Live Entertainment featuring Aberdeen Project.

Saturday June 27

ABE Basketball Classic- 9:30 a.m.

Geater Center, 1611 Chase Street

Anderson Black Expo Parade – 12:00 Noon

downtown beginning on 8th & Main Street, stage performances and live entertainment beginning immediately following the parade featuring; Epiphany Dance, Iibada Dance, Myla and Blue Soul

Sunday June 28 

Anderson Black Expo Praise in the Park at Dickman Town Center Plaza

featuring Anderson Zion Baptist Church, 10:15 a.m., Gospel Extravaganza 2:30 p.m., Jazz in the Park 7:00 p.m. featuring Michael Houston and Alaina Renae

Hours:

Friday 5 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Saturday 12:00 noon – 11:00 p.m.

Sunday 10:15 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
