Need good breakfast? Come to Papa’s

More by this author

Dietary, fitness and medical experts have often stated that breakfast is the most important meal of our day.

After all, it provides us with our first shot of nutrients that determines in large part how we feel the rest of the day. Since breakfast is so important, we might want to be careful when choosing where to enjoy it.

For many satisfied patrons, a visit to Papaā€™s Pancake House has become a morning ritual. Open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., the restaurant serves both breakfast and lunch selections, and the meal in between commonly referred to as brunch.

Located in Lawrence, Papaā€™s has become a popular staple for those who live out East, as well as people coming off the nearby Interstate 465 and guests at the nearby suites across the street.

If you appreciate a family-owned, retro and traditional diner with a small town atmosphere and home style selections, then Papaā€™s is your place. You will notice how clean and comfortable it is, with plenty of seating at booths, seats and tables, as well as a breakfast bar.

Like ships at sea guided in by a lighthouse, repeat customers have flocked to Papaā€™s to enjoy their unique spin on favorites such as fluffy pancakes, flavorful waffles, sizeable omelets, baked cheese grits and French toast that offers you a glimpse of what it must be like to wake up to breakfast in heaven.

Papaā€™s prides itself on its homemade ā€œfrom scratchā€ items, and claims to make its own syrup, pancakes and French toast with a special recipe. Pancakes come in a variety of flavors such as coconut, pineapple and strawberry.

Actually, though, you canā€™t go wrong with the plain ones with some good olā€™ fashioned butter and syrup. Yes, I tried the plain cakes, because I knew that if the restaurant could get those right, all of the other essential items would likely be in order. Every bite delivered total satisfaction.

Those who need fuel to keep them from getting sluggish at lunchtime will also appreciate Papaā€™s lunch menu, which includes popular items such as the patty melt, which is served with a side of fries.

Papaā€™s offers specials on most days, and most selections provide a decent amount of food for a reasonable price.

If you are in the Lawrence area and you need a place that can start your day off right, or keep it going right, then make some time to pay Papaā€™s a visit.
