The Indianapolis Recorder Newspaper in partnership with American Senior Communities (ASC) and WTHR presents a free Community Health and Wellness Fair on Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon at Ivy Tech Community College’s downtown location, 50 W. Fall Creek Pkwy N. Drive. The event is sponsored by American Senior Communities, Eskenazi Health and WTHR.
“Advocating for the complete mental, physical, and social health of our entire community is at the forefront of what the Recorder’s aims are,” said Recorder Media Group President Shannon Williams. “It is only fitting we partner with other community pillars who share that same zeal and passion.”
“American Senior Communities believes education plays an important role in helping seniors and their families live longer, healthier and happier lives,” said Dan Benson, chief operating officer of American Senior Communities. “The Recorder has been serving the community for decades and we are so honored to partner with them.”
The event will feature free health screenings, fitness demonstrations and an employment fair. The Alzheimer’s Association will host a panel discussion at 10 a.m. on the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s disease and local yoga instructor LaTenia Caldwell will present a fitness demonstration at 11 a.m. Veteran television personality, Mike Ahern will be on hand to greet guests, take photos and share his personal journey with ASC.
Attendees will have an opportunity to win a $100 Visa gift card and other prizes. The Community Health and Wellness Fair is open to all ages and admission is free.
