I am Nichelle Marie, the daughter of Sylvia Marie , who is the daughter of Anna Mae, who is daughter of Anna Neal, who is the daughter of Gillie, who is the daughter of Manda.
I come from a long line of strong and courageous women.

My Mother has taught me many important lessons over the years. When I was younger I didn’t always understand what she was trying to impart.
“When I was a child, I thought as a child. When I became an adult, I put away childish things.”
As an adult, I understand clearly what she was trying to pour into me. My Mother taught me many things by example. Priorities of faith, family and community.
She led by example working to provide an amazing life for me and my sister. We were raised in a huge extended family that showered us with unconditional love and support.
Because of them, I am.

I have two grown children. What I hope I have imparted to them are the same things that my Mother gave to me: faith, family and community. Faith is the bedrock that family is built on. I live by the mantra #FamilyFirst.

It’s more than words, it’s action. Being there for family in good times and in bad; be it convenient or inconvenient.
My faith in God has brought me through many hard trials. With God we can weather any storm.
Finally, I’d like my children to know that to whom much is given, much is required. We are responsible for making our small area of the world a little better than we found it.
Lastly, I want them to know that my love is never ending and unconditional.
On this Mother’s Day and every day, tell your mother how much you love and appreciate her. Motherhood is the hardest job and the responsibility never ends. The rewards are extraordinary. For those whose mothers are no longer with them, hold onto the memories.
Happy Mother’s Day!
