St. Vincent Health announces transition of St. Vincent New Hope

St.Vincent Health officials announced the transition of St.Vincent New Hope to become its own stand-alone organization, which will enable the group homes to be more responsive to those it serves. This transition will be effective on January 1, 2014. St.Vincent New Hope will work with local and national organizations to sustain its mission, and keep services and programs intact.

For more than 25 years, St.Vincent New Hope has provided support services to individuals with developmental disabilities and others in need. These community-based services have benefited hundreds of individuals by providing accessible housing and transportation; counseling and behavior management; family and community services; group homes, home-based counseling; supported living programs; and therapeutic recreation.

ā€œAs St.Vincent Health and St.Vincent New Hope have continued to grow and develop, it was determined that a new relationship needed to be created to best position New Hope to be more responsive to serving clients and families with high quality care, long-term security and respect for their innate human dignity,ā€ said Ron Mead, chief mission officer of St.Vincent Health. ā€œWe are grateful to the associates and volunteers at New Hope, who have helped sustain this ministry, and are confident that this reorganization will provide more opportunity to serve those in need of care.ā€

To ensure St.Vincent New Hope has the necessary support through this transition, St.Vincent Health will make a cash infusion and also donate to New Hope more than 38 Central Indiana group home properties.

ā€œAll of us at New Hope would like to thank St.Vincent for their involvement with and support of this vital human service,ā€ said Jim Van Dyke, executive director of St.Vincent New Hope. ā€œThis new phase in our history will allow us to implement even stronger programs that will enable New Hope to continue serving our clients well into the future.ā€
