Community day at Martindale Church of Christ
Martindale Church of Christ, 2402 Dr. Andrew J. Brown Ave., will have a community day celebration on Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event includes food and clothing giveaways, health screenings, free haircuts, a basketball tournament, bounce houses, performances, face painting, fellowship and more.
The event is free to the public. Friends and Family Day at the church is Aug. 28 at 10:45 a.m.

Summerfare at Old Bethel United Methodist Church
All are invited to Old Bethel United Methodist Church’s 26th Annual Summerfare fish fry from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 4-6 at the church, 7995 E. 21st St.
Summerfare features the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra on Aug. 5 and Kids Day starting at noon on Aug. 6 with Silly Safari, Kasey the Fire and Safety Dog, a puppet workshop and more.
Profits from Summerfare are distributed through grant requests to groups and committees within the church for special projects, such as improvements to the children’s play area.

Eastern Star conference features
Ken Ham
Eastern Star Church will host Ken Ham, a nationally known speaker, author and president and CEO of Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum.
Ham will discuss:
• The Relevance of Genesis in Today’s Culture at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 21
• One Race, One Blood at 6 p.m. on Aug. 21
• How to Reach the Secularized World with the Gospel at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 22
