Prince Hall Shiners coming to Cincinnati

More by this author

A major fraternal organization will hold its convention to Cincinnati in 2011.

The Prince Hall Shriners are expected to bring more than 25,000 members to the city for a five-day meeting. The Cincinnati USA Convention and Visitors Bureau said Monday it expects the convention to mean $5 million in economic impact.

The group has some 35,000 members worldwide, and last met in Cincinnati in 1961.

The convention is the latest in a series of meetings by predominantly black groups that Cincinnati has attracted in the aftermath of a boycott called after the city’s race riots of 2001. The NAACP met here last year.
