With so many different diets available, how are we to know what works and what is safe?

The only way to be sure is to discover the author’s background and the research behind the diet’s methodology. Every good diet should give a background about the author and his/her credentials and experience in the fields of nutrition and biochemistry.

Our bodies being a high percent of water (about 75%) it becomes imperative to not drink polluted or chlorinated water. By adding chlorine in water we are attempting to purify it, maybe from some bacteria, but we don’t take out any of the toxic chemicals that end up in our water source. Besides, chlorine has been linked with heart disease and who knows how long term use may affect our health. Boiling water only kills some bacteria, it makes more sense to get a good water filter, because much of the bottled water is questionable.

Many people believe that only dietary fat will lead to body fat. FALSE! Actually, eating more calories than your body needs to perform daily activities and daily metabolism is what causes body fat. It is as simple as putting 20 gallons of gas in a 15 gallon gas tankā€¦..the excess must go somewhere.

CHICKEN:

Hands down, the best choice for healthy and affordable meat is that old favorite the chicken. Choosing white meat portions (breast) will significantly reduce our fat intake. Chicken breast is one of the primary foods of bodybuilders, some of the healthiest people on the planet.

Fats: Fats are the worse type of calorie you can consume, bar none. One thing to keep in the back of your head at all times is that fat is very high in calories. Every gram of fat consumed contains 9 calories. Compare this to the 4 calories per gram in carbohydrates and protein. If you ate a slab of pure fat, in comparison to a slab of pure sugar, you’d be consuming 2.25 times more calories for an equal weight portion. So insulin comes to the rescue to clear the excess sugar from the bloodstream.

And what do you suppose the insulin does with all this sugar? It stores it as fat. And worse yet, until the insulin sweeps up the excess sugar, it runs rampant throughout the body causing glycation.

Testosterone is secreted in the testes in men and in the ovaries in women. Small amounts are also secreted in the adrenal glands. Testosterone is derived from cholesterol. The levels of testosterone in men range between 350 and 1,000 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dl). Bone loss through aging is inevitable; however there are several ways to alleviate the rate at which this occurs. Many decisions you make now will determine your osteoporosis risk later in life. Current nutrition and exercise habits are two dynamics you must pay close attention to.

Believe following basic principles like:

ā€¢ Balanced proportions of carbohydrate, protein, fat.

ā€¢ Increase your carbohydrate consumption as your training intensifies.

ā€¢ Moderate calorific intake.

ā€¢ Less sweets, and ā€˜junk’ food.
