Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark declined an invitation to participate in the NBA All-Star Weekend’s three-point contest in San Francisco, opting instead to make her debut in the WNBA’s three-point contest during the All-Star festivities in Indy.Ā
Clark’s representatives at Excel Sports Management confirmed the news, adding:Ā
“Caitlin will not be at NBA All-Star. She wants her first 3-point contest to be at WNBA All-Star in Indianapolis.”

This decision comes after the NBA integrated WNBA talent into its All-QStar events. In 2024, New York Liberty guard and WNBA champion Sabrina Ionescu faced Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry in a landmark ‘NBA vs. WNBA’ three-point challenge.Ā Ā
The event garnered significant attention, with Curry narrowly defeating Ionescu 29-26 in Indianapolis.
The league likely aimed to replicate this success by featuring Clark, known for her exceptional long-range shooting, in this year’s NBA All-Star festivities to boost fan engagement and viewership.
However, Clark’s choice emphasizes her commitment to elevating the WNBA. By debuting in the three-point contest during the WNBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, she aims to draw attention to the league and its activations.
Clark’s decision also aligns with her milestones. The University of Iowa retired her No. 22 jersey during the weekend of Feb. 1, honoring her collegiate achievements.
Clark won WNBA Rookie of the Year, Associated Press Rookie of the Year and was named TIME Magazine’s Athlete of the Year in 2024.
