The New Works program is seeking proposals for its fifth season.
The annual arts commission program, which aims to “promote and sustain local artists and arts communities through the creation of new works,” is inviting Hoosier artists to submit proposals ahead of its fifth season at Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts.
Four winners will be selected by a panel of judges — one in visual arts and three in performing arts, including music, dance, theater and other fields. Winning proposals will receive $2,500 to create and premiere the works during a livestreamed event on May 20 at Tarkington Theater. The winning visual arts piece, which may be two- or three-dimensional, will be displayed in the main lobby of the Payne & Mencias Palladium concert hall for one year, according to a press release.
Proposed works must align in theme with one or more of the Allied Solutions Center’s organizations’ Core Values — including excellence, innovation, integrity, collaboration and inclusion. Works cannot have been created prior for September 2025 and may not be performed publicly before the premiere on May 30, 2025.

Winners of the last season of New Works commissions include singer-composer Emma Hendrick, poet Ming Joi Washington, choreographer Abby Marchesseault and visual artist Boxx the Artist. A video of the May 31, 2024 premier is available on the Center’s YouTube Channel.
There is no application to apply for the fifth annual New Works Program, and the deadline to submit is 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 12. Artists of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Winning proposals will be announced in February.
