This past weekend my boyfriend and I went to High Velocity for a date night. The restaurant is located downtown at the JW Marriott hotel.
During the day High Velocity is the perfect place to have lunch with coworkers or dinner followed by a walk on the nearby canal.
At night, the restaurant turns into a high-energy, sleek bar thatās just right to watch a game on one of their many high definition TVs or after a long dayās work, to enjoy their Chesapeake crab dip served with toasted baguettes.
My date had I shared the chicken quesadillas which consisted of two flour tortillas stuffed with roasted corn, refried beans, poblano peppers, cilantro, and jack and cheddar cheeses.
Along with these quick and tasty appetizers there are many other entree options that are as diverse as the people that come to eat there.
They have things such as the bacon and Swiss burger served on a brioche bun; and the baby back ribs served with bourbon BBQ sauce, fries or mashed potatoes and jalapeƱo coleslaw.
If you are in the mood for a soup or salad, High Velocity has a simple but oh-so-good Caesar salad served on a bed of romaine lettuce with Parmesan cheese, grilled chicken and croutons.
For my beverage I wanted to try something new so I had the strawberry mojito served with Bacardi rum. This was the first time Iād had a mojito and was surprised by the taste but I liked it. Next time I may try the blackberry jack, the Zing Zhang Bloody Mary, or a chocolate razztini.
Along with a full bar High Velocity has a beer selection of both draft and bottled beer.
Overall I liked my experience. The restaurant has a nice vibe and the people were just my type of crowd. Our waitress was very friendly and made excellent recommendations. The food had nice portions and the prices werenāt outrageous.
I also like that they had plenty of seating inside, outside, at the bar or if you have a large party, High Velocity can serve you in a private party room.
