Brian Tracy said, “A goal without a plan is only a dream.”

There are far too many African American students who have big dreams, but no idea how to accomplish them. On Sept. 14, the Center for Leadership Development (CLD) will host our 17th Annual College Prep Conference and College Fair.

The purpose of the conference is to expose African American students to resources and strategies to effectively disrupt the career and academic achievement gaps.

The theme for this year’s conference is achieving the D.R.E.A.M. — dedication, resilience, excellence, academics and make it happen. This full day conference will provide 9th-12th grade students, student-athletes and supportive adults with the knowledge and skills needed to build a successful and comprehensive academic, college and career path through dynamic sessions.

Students will be given direct access to colleges and universities at the fair to learn more about schools to help them create an academic pathway to success.

During lunch, we will be joined by keynote speaker Jeermal Sylvester, Director of Workforce Development at Marian University at Saint Joseph’s College.

Sylvester is a former professional athlete who shares his story of overcoming trauma and adversity to help you move from where you are to where you want to be.

“Success is not just about dreaming; it’s about taking action and doing the work,” Sylvester said. “Allow your D.R.E.A.M. to guide you on your journey towards your goals.”

We look forward to seeing you at this year’s College Prep Conference and College Fair so you can ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS!

CLD’s 17th Annual College Prep Conference and College Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 14 at the Indiana Convention Center. The fee for entry is $25, which includes breakfast and lunch.
