City officials expect Friday to be a Knozone Air Quality Action Day. Temperatures are expected to reach the high 90s for the second consecutive day.
The combination of warm temperatures and sunny skies are predicted to increase ground-level ozone, which is unhealthy for people sensitive to air pollutants including children and the elderly.
To help reduce ozone levels, the city’s Department of Public Works recommends the following:
– Reduce vehicle idling.
– Bicycle or walk instead of driving.
– Carpool.
– Use public transportation.
– Combine errands.
– Fill gas tanks and mow after 6 p.m.
