Paradise may have been lost, but it has been found. A dictionary defines paradise as an idyllic place.
Well, a meal at a Paradise Bakery & Café is like a little bit of heaven.
There are six of the dining spots in the Indianapolis area, and at the three that I’ve been to on the Northside, the food has been outstanding.
Breakfast in Paradise is served until 11 a.m. and the menu offerings are vast. Here’s a tiny sampling:
How about an omelette filled with diced honey ham and cheddar cheese? That is topped with more cheddar. It’s served with toasted sourdough bread, whipped butter, jam and fresh fruit. All for $6.79.
Or what about a ranchero omelette. It’s a freshly prepared omelette filled with a blend of chorizo sausage, green chiles, black beans, green onions, tomatoes and cheddar cheese topped with a special ranchero sauce, garlic sour cream and garnished with green onion. It’s served with toasted sourdough bread, whipped butter, jam and fresh fruit. The price is $6.79.
For your lunch or dinner try a bakery fresh sandwich, a pannini or a wrap.
If you think the sandwiches are too large, try a half sandwich combo with soup or a salad. The restaurant is most accommodating in how you want your sandwich made and served.
Here are some of the types of sandwiches available at $7.19 each.
Albacore tuna, California turkey, chicken walnut salad, ham and Swiss, Paradise club, Paradise roast beef, Paradise vegetarian, turkey cranberry and Tuscan chicken.
Salads come in a small or large size. And when they say large, they mean huge. Prices vary according to the ingredients you ask for. They are made while you go through a food line.
Also on the menu are individual quiche pies that can be combined with salad or soup for a combo.
Most of the sandwiches and combos come with one of Paradise’s signature cookies.
The restaurant features three panini sandwiches and two wraps. There’s a chicken artichoke panini, a ham and brie panini and meatball panini. Each is grilled on sourdough bread. The Thai chicken wrap features sliced chicken, jasmine rice, Napa cabbage, green onion and carrots wrapped in a spinach tortilla with peanut sauce. The turkey chipotle wrap includes oven-roasted turkey, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and chipotle, raspberry cream cheese spread wrapped in a chipotle tortilla.
From the bakery, you’ll find an assortment of breads and other treats like muffins, cinnamon rolls, carrot cake, cream cheese brownies and of course cookies to die for. The bakery items are delicious with one of several types and flavors of coffee.
All items on the menu can be ordered for carry out. Catering is also available.
