There’s no place like His Place

More by this author

Have you ever been stuck between going to a Soul Food restaurant, a rib shack or the neighborhood waffles joint?

Well, I know a place that combines all three into one. His Place Eatery is a fairly new establishment ready to serve you food fresh from the kitchen.

What’s on the menu: southern fried chicken, hickory smoked ribs, smothered pork chops, chicken & waffles, fried fish, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, mashed potatoes, candied yams, cookies, pudding, cake and more.

It was so hard to choose. I had a catfish fillet dinner with collard greens, that were seasoned and slow cooked with smoked turkey, bourbon cream corn, delicious cream corn flavored with bourbon and prepared with onions and peppers, and to top it off a slice of sweet potato cheesecake. When my food came out it smelled so good and with the first bite, all I could say was one word: “delicious.”

With each bite I could taste the freshness of every ingredient. The food was hot and on fire, in a good way. If you don’t like fish try the hickory smoked ribs with a 12 spice rub, slow smoked over hickory wood. If you are old fashioned then try a fried bologna sandwich topped with sliced cheese and served on white or wheat bread with mustard.

This restaurant is a nice cozy place to enjoy some good, down-home cooking. His Place Eatery offers lunch and dinner entrees, sandwiches and a children’s dinner. They are also available for catering of traditional and gourmet selections. Dine-in or carryout is available.

The restaurant is only open on the weekends so you have time to reflect on their food all week. I recommend that you try His Place Eatery and you will gladly go back for more.
