GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric Co., said Tuesday it has bought Living Independently Group Inc. to expand its home health care business.
GE of Fairfield, Conn., did not disclose how much it paid.
GE Healthcare initially acquired a minority stake in the New York company in September 2008, with plans to develop a passive monitoring system called QuietCare for use worldwide. QuietCare uses wireless sensors to track the daily patterns of a senior’s activities and alerts caregivers of changes that may signal health issues or emergencies.
GE Healthcare is based in Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.
Shares of parent GE rose 10 cents to $16.12 in afternoon trading.
