Dr. Tia Bell is Marian University’s new dean of nursing. Bell will assume her new role on May 22.
Bell said she is excited to become the new dean at the Alan and Sue Leighton School of Nursing.
“Since Marian University is a Franciscan institution already dedicated to the nurturing of mind, body, and spirit, it is the perfect place to continue my career as I am committed to guiding Marian nursing students as future professionals,” Bell said.
Bell will become the fourth dean since the nursing program started more than three decades ago. As the new dean, Bell will lead Marian University’s nursing programs and oversee multiple University branches and nursing sites.
Bell will also oversee Marian’s accelerated second-degree nursing program at Ascension St. Vincent, Indianapolis, Ascension St. Thomas, Nashville and Ascension Health, Oklahoma City.
Notably, Bell’s career as a health professional began during her undergraduate studies at Marian University. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2000. She also holds a master’s degree in nursing education, which she received in 2008 from the University of Indianapolis. Additionally, Bell received her doctorate in nursing practice from Indiana State University in 2018.
Bell has served in leadership roles for numerous professional and health organizations, including the Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing Academic-Practice Partnership Task Force, Advisory Board for the Metropolitan Indianapolis Central Indiana (MICI) Area Health Education Foundation, Indiana Center for Nursing DEI Academy, and the Indiana State Nurses Association Advocacy Committee.
Bell also holds numerous nursing specialty certifications. Also, she received the Innovations in Professional Nursing Education Award from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
