Megan Ornellas, the chief of staff for the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA), has been named interim executive director of the Hoosier Lottery. Gov. Mitch Daniels made the appointment following the resignation of Kathryn Densborn.
“From an overall standpoint, the lottery has never been better run. Administrative expenses have consistently been around 2.5 percent, far lower than the historical pattern,” said Earl Goode, Daniels’ chief of staff. “Notwithstanding that record, this administration established high, clearly defined standards for both economy and appearances and the governor insists on their rigorous enforcement.”
Ornellas has worked in several positions since joining FSSA in 2007. Before becoming chief of staff, she was the chief financial officer, responsible for the agency’s accounting operations, procurement and cost containment strategies. Ornellas also has served as FSSA’s director of the Division of Aging and deputy director of the Division of Family Resources.
Ornellas began her duties Oct. 18 and will remain until a permanent successor is named
