Registration open for science summer camp
The College of Science Summer Institute, a summer science camp at Purdue University, is open for registration.
Known as CoSSI, the five-day camp is open to high school students entering grades 10-12 in the fall. The program is from June 20 to June 25.
Camp activities include hands-on labs, field trips to observe scientists at work, and recreational and social activities that take advantage of several facilities at Purdue. The theme this year will be āEnergy Matters.ā
The cost is $400, which covers tuition for eight labs, five nights in an air-conditioned Purdue residence hall, three meals per day, snacks, cultural and social events, evening activities, materials, and supplies. To register, visit www.science.purdue.edu/cossi.

A friendās ongoing recovery from a traumatic brain injury is the inspiration for this new body of work that āexpresses thoughts about the tenuousness of life, the fragility and strength of the body, and the beauty of the mind.āĀ
Hallās medium is an encaustic collage, which incorporates the centuries-old technique of applying molten beeswax and pigment to a surface and fusing successive layers together with flame.
The work hangs through Feb. 27.

Auditions for gospel stage play
On Saturday Feb. 20, Lettyās Gospel Theater comes to Indianapolis to audition top artists for the gospel stage play, āSista Girl.ā Auditions will be held at New Direction Christian Church, 5330 E. 38th St., 10 a.m. ā 2 p.m.
Sista Girl, written by Lynda T. Morris, is about the power of love, motherhood, and sisterhood. It takes a captivating look at three African-American sisters, with plenty of attitude to spare, who take different journeys in life but find themselves sharing the same struggles and heartaches.
For the production of āSista Girl,ā Lettyās Gospel Theater is looking for non-union, African-American actors and gospel singers.
