Children’s home backers renew Ind. Statehouse push

renew their push for Indiana legislators to keep open a state home

for troubled children.

“font-family: Verdana”>The State Department of Health wants to

close the Indiana Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Children’s Home in

Knightstown, saying it costs too much money. The state spends about

$10 million a year on the facility, and the 53-building campus

needs repairs that could cost up to $200

million.

miles east of Indianapolis gives at-risk youths a loving, safe

environment where they can flourish. Advocates are planning a

noontime rally Monday to draw attention to their

cause.

115 students at the home into traditional schools in

May.
