The floodgates have started opening for grant funds from the HITECH Act within the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, with more to come. That means the timing is perfect for education session #10 at the upcoming 2010 HIMSS Conference & Exhibition in Atlanta, titled “Getting Your Project Funded.”
Combining HITECH with a proposed 2011 federal budget that includes additional health I.T. funding, “There seems to be no end in sight to the opportunities coming out,” says Brian Dixon, the session’s presenter and health information technology project manager at the Regenstrief Institute in Indianapolis.
Dixon will detail those opportunities, covering such areas as grants for research, and grants and contracts for I.T. implementations that go beyond the upcoming meaningful use incentive payments. He’ll also explain opportunities at state levels. “Anyone interested in finding opportunities and improving grant applications should attend,” he advises. “There will be opportunities in the future for health I.T. beyond the stimulus.”
The education session is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on Monday, March 1, in Room B314. More information is available at himssconference.org.
