The YMCA invites community chefs to submit their best healthy recipe for their Healthy Recipe Contest in honor of National Nutrition Month. The focus of National Nutrition Month is on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. This year judges are asking contestants to include one or two of this year’s secret ingredients, pineapple and Swiss chard, in their recipes.
The top three recipes will be posted on the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis’ Facebook page for individuals to view and try at home. Feedback from the public will help judges decide on which recipe will win the contest. The person with the most popular recipe will win three months of fresh produce from Green Bean Delivery. Runner-ups will receive either free gourmet cooking lessons from Clark Appliance or a Season’s 52 gift card.
Original recipes can be submitted now until March 10, 2014, to Jenna Defore, Registered Dietician, at jdefore@indymca.org or through the mail at 615 N. Alabama St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, 46204.
