Charleston’s gives its food an extra punch

When I was in my early teens, my best friend told me about a place she tried with her mom called Charleston’s Restaurant.

Following her suggestion, my parents and I tried Charleston’s and to say that we loved it would be an understatement.

It’s been years and my family and I still go to Charleston’s a half dozen times a year if not more. We absolutely love the food, service and location.

I also personally love Charleston’s cozy and clean interior that is decorated with gas lighting and beautiful wood.

As a regular at Charleston’s, I have tried a wide variety of their salads, burgers, fish, chicken, sides, etc., so trust me when I say practically every menu item is delicious. One of the things I love about Charleston’s is that they take normal restaurant offerings and jazz them up.

Instead of the runny and bland potato soup offered by some eateries, Charleston’s version is thick, creamy and very well-seasoned. The soup is also topped with a pile of cheddar cheese, crispy bacon bits and fresh chives.

Their potato soup is in fact so good, that I order it every time I go to Charleston’s along with my favorite, Chicken Club Salad.

Although I don’t typically order salads when I eat out because I find them boring, the Chicken Club Salad quickly became a favorite because of its large size and delicious mixed greens that are topped with lightly fried chicken pieces, tomato, egg, bacon, avocado, onions and your choice of dressing.

As an added bonus, the salad comes with a very tasty croissant that has been drizzled with sweet syrup that tastes like honey.

Considering that these two items could easily feed two people, the $5 soup and $12 salad are very reasonable.

As if the food and prices are not enough to keep us coming back for more, the service at Charleston’s is excellent. In the years I have been eating there, I have always had a very friendly and attentive server. The front of house staff are also excellent and will get people seated quickly even when they are busy.

Another great thing about Charleston’s is its location. Located on East 82nd Street, Charleston’s is just a minute off of I-69 and within a five minute drive of Castleton Square Mall.

Charleston’s has an additional location in Carmel and 14 other locations around the country.

Regardless of where you are, I would definitely suggest you try Charleston’s the next time you are looking for a great dining experience.
