Thousands of Indiana students are slated to take steps toward higher education Friday with a walkathon to raise money for their college funds.
Organizers hope more than 2,000 students, including many fifth-graders from Indianapolis, will participate in the Walk Into My Future event in downtown Indianapolis.
Students collect pledges to walk 5.29 kilometers, which is about 3.3 miles. After the students finish the walk, the money from pledges will be invested in students’ CollegeChoice 529 savings plans.
