Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center will lead a free thank you card making class as part of the Spirit & Place Festival from 5:30-7 p.m. on Nov. 6 at the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre.
The class is open to the public and will explore how card design choices have a reflection on the expression and gratitude shown towards others.
The class is modeled after the center’s card-making workshop, which is offered to clients at the Dr. James J. Wright Building. The workshop explores how card making can express gratitude while reflecting on the design, word choices, colors, styles, fonts and how past expressions have made someone feel.

“Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center provides comprehensive mental health care to individuals and families with an approach that focuses on resilience and recovery, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work with a like-minded organization to support our community in such a positive way,” said Ashely Overlay, chief executive officer at Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center.
The Spirit & Place festival takes place until Nov. 10 and celebrates the roles that arts, humanities and religion play in community life. The event is Indianapolis’s largest co-created community festival that aims to shape both individuals and public life. The events are created by artists, scholars, performers, congregations, cultural institutions and more at different locations across Central Indiana.
“This year’s festival will highlight the importance of cobbling out moments of gratitude during challenging times, which is crucial for both personal and community health,” said Erin Kelley, Spirit & Place program director.
The Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre is at 705 N. Illinois St. Registration is free and can be found at eskenazihealth.edu/events.
