Gleaners Food Bank, IMPD to provide groceries to residents in need

More by this author

The City of Indianapolis is partnering with Gleaners Food Bank to pilot a Community Action Relief Effort (CARE) Bags program, which will provide sacks of groceries to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers for distribution directly to residents in need.

The CARE Bags pilot is an expansion of the CARE Mobile Pantry Program, which provides fresh groceries once a week to locations where families are known to be food-insecure. The pilot will also serve as a test of the Cityā€™s new social service referral system, Community Officer, which will allow officers to make referrals from the field for various community-based interventions.
