Junior basketball standout Leroy Nobles has been named the IUPUI Male Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of November. The 6-foot-5 guard tied for the team lead with a 16.3 scoring average to accompany his 5.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. The sharpshooter also drained 48.4 percent from beyond the arc and 81.6 percent at the foul line in the seven games.
Nobles opened the season with a career-high 27 points in the 88-82 win at Drake and scored 20 points or more in three of the Jaguars’ seven games. Against Drake, Nobles splashed a career-high five treys and followed that up with four triples at Eastern Illinois four days later, finishing with 24 points.
Nobles hot play helped IUPUI open the season at 5-1 overall, marking the program’s best start since 1997.
He capped the month with two more double-digit scoring outbursts, turning in 23 points and seven rebounds against IU East on Nov. 25 and 13 at Kansas State on Nov. 28.
