The Indiana Office of Energy Development (IOED) has unveiled the Indiana Energy Saver Program, a $182 million initiative aimed at reducing utility bills, improving home comfort and enhancing energy efficiency for Hoosiers across the state.
Backed by federal funding, this program is a key component of Gov. Mike Braun’s agenda to make energy more affordable and accessible.
The program offers eligible residents a no-cost home energy audit to identify potential improvements. These upgrades may include air sealing, insulation and replacing inefficient heating, cooling and water systems. The goal is to reduce energy consumption while providing immediate cost savings through upfront discounts on eligible products installed by qualified contractors. Energy audits are scheduled to begin in the summer of 2025, with applications now open through the program’s online portal.

Highlighting its community-centered approach, IOED has partnered with Vincent Village, Inc. in Fort Wayne for a pilot project involving four homes. Vincent Village, a nonprofit providing housing and services for families experiencing homelessness, sees the program as an essential tool in breaking cycles of poverty.
“Vincent Village is grateful to Governor Braun, the Indiana Office of Energy Development, and the families of the Village, who have agreed to pilot this program in Fort Wayne,” said Rob Haworth, executive director of Vincent Village. “We fully support increasing energy efficiency to cut energy costs and advance our work in breaking the cycle of homelessness.”

State leaders and local partners gathered to celebrate the program’s launch during an event at Citizens Square in Fort Wayne on May 14.
Braun underscored the initiative’s importance.
“Cutting energy costs is at the very heart of what we are focused on,” he said. “The Indiana Energy Saver Program prioritizes practical solutions to improve energy affordability and deliver quality products. Because of our Indiana team’s thoughtful, innovative planning and design process, Hoosiers in all 92 counties will have the opportunity to realize true energy savings.”
Jon Ford, executive director of IOED, echoed these sentiments, noting the program’s alignment with Indiana’s broader energy strategy.
“The Indiana Energy Saver Program is an important instrument in all of the above strategies that strengthen our efforts to decrease energy costs and enhance home comfort for consumers,” Ford said.
