Founded in 1968, the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company is rooted in the African American experience.
⢠7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 ā Julie Tourtillotte
Julie Tourtillotte is a professor of art and chair of the Art Department at Saint Maryās College in Notre Dame, where she teaches drawing, fibers and video art. Her lecture is titled “Growing Color: Natural Dyes andĀ Sustainable Textiles,” and there will be an exhibit March 1-3.

The vocalists in Alash Ensemble are masters of Tuvan throat singing, a technique for singing multiple pitches at the same time.
⢠7:30 p.m. March 21 ā LaToya Ruby Frazier
LaToya Ruby Frazier’s art spans a range of media, including photography, video, performance, installation art and books, and centers on the nexus of social justice, cultural change, and commentary on the American experience.
⢠7:30 p.m. March 24 ā Zennetta S. Drew
Zenetta Drew joined Dallas Black Dance Theatre in 1987 and has seen the company develop from an annual operating budget of $175,000 to over $4.9 million.
⢠7:30 p.m. April 7 ā John Clayton
John Clayton is a jazz bass professional with a Grammy and nine additional nominations.
The series coincides with the 100-year anniversary of the founding of Sigma Gamma Rho at Butler. It is the only historically Black sorority founded on at a predominantly white school.
