Key open enrollment dates for 2025 coverage

As open enrollment for Medicaid kicks off in Indiana, residents have a crucial opportunity to review their health coverage options and make important decisions for 2025. Here’s what you need to know to navigate this year’s enrollment period: 

Key dates 

  • Nov. 1, 2024, is when open enrollment begins. It is the first day you can enroll in, renew or change Marketplace plans. 
  • Dec. 15, 2024, is the last day to enroll in or change plans for coverage to start Jan. 1. 
  • Jan. 14, 2025, is the last day to enroll in or change Marketplace plans for the year with coverage starting Feb. 1. 

Gathering basic information 

To make the application process easier, have the basic information for yourself and your household on hand like: 

  • Name

  • Date of birth 
  • Social security information 
  • Information about your household 
  • Mailing address 
  • Immigration document information 
  • Employer and income information 
  • Current health coverage information 

Preview health insurance and plans 

You can preview plans ahead of Nov. 1 to make sure you apply for or renew the one that fits your needs best. Enter the following information into the Healthcare.gov toolkit, and it will provide estimate premiums. 

  • Zip code 
  • Household size 
  • Household income 

Check to see if you qualify for savings 

Prior to Nov. 1, you can use the healthcare.gov’s tool to check if you can save on Marketplace premiums or qualify for Medicaid of Children’s Health Insurance Program based on your income. 

Find someone to help you apply 

There are ways to get local, certified Marketplace help if you are stuck. Through the Healthcare.gov website, you can set up a time to speak with a local assistant in-person, over the phone or by email.
