Marion County Public Health Department – Community Health Survey

More by this author

Health literacy is the degree to which someone can find, understand and use information and services to make health-related decisions and actions. The Marion County Public Health Department’s Advancing Health Literacy Program is a federally funded grant project surveying health literacy as well as COVID-19 vaccination behaviors in Marion County. This research project is a great opportunity for both organizations and individuals to get involved in the health of the community!

Marion County organizations, or organizations connected to Marion County residents, can sign up to become a Community Health Survey Partner. All organizations – nonprofits, employers, faith-based groups and cultural organizations – are invited to become a partner. Partner organizations not only support the health of the community but can also earn up to $1,500. This stipend is a check written to the partner organization, to be used as the organization sees fit. Organizations can sign up to become a partner of the Marion County Public Health Department Community Survey at marioncountyhealthsurvey.org.

Signing up as a partner involves completing a short Letter of Agreement. This online form includes organizational information and logo, a dedicated contact person and a signature. As a partner organization, the ask is simple: share the survey with your contacts. The Letter of Agreement can be found at marioncountyhealthsurvey.org.

After signing up, partner organizations receive their unique survey code and a marketing toolkit to help promote survey participation. To promote survey completion, organizations share their unique survey code using flyers, email, social media, newsletter announcements and any other communication channel. The unique survey code can be shared with Marion County employees, members, clients, parishioners and others. Organizations will earn a $500 stipend for every 100 Marion County resident responses (or $5 per response), with a maximum of $1,500.

All Marion County residents, 18 years of age and older, are invited to complete the survey. The survey does not ask for participant’s name or other personal information and all responses are confidential. The survey can be completed on a smartphone, tablet or computer. All partner organizations’ unique survey links can be accessed via the communications sent out or at marioncountyhealthsurvey.org.

This community health assessment provides important health literacy insight to public health officials, researchers and others striving to improve the health and well-being of Marion County residents. The results of this confidential survey can inform future health programs to increase health literacy. By improving the health literacy of our community, people can not only understand health information, but use it. Individuals can make well-informed decisions regarding their health. All people can have the opportunity to be as healthy as possible.

Register your organization as a partner today, as this program concludes August 31, 2023. After this date, all partner organizations will receive a stipend based on the number of surveys collected using their unique survey link.
