Indy Arts Council and the Madam Walker Legacy Center are collaborating for a new series of Art & Soul programming.
Art & Soul is celebrating its 29th year by expanding its program and partnerships to offer artists a larger stage and broader audience. The new collaboration with the Madam Walker Legacy Center aims to expand not only Art & Soul programming itself but further amplify the careers and reach of the four selected “Art & Soul Featured Artists,” according to a press release.
“Not only does The Walker have a long history of amplifying Black creativity and culture, the team is known for proactively seeking out supportive experiences for local creatives,” Kavita Mahoney, vice president of Indy Arts Council, said in a statement. “We’re honored to collaborate and deepen the Art & Soul experience for the whole community.”
Art & Soul, which is supported annually by Lilly Endowment, is nearing 30 years of celebrating Indianapolis’ Black artistry by showcasing and supporting performers and creators in public events at the Indianapolis Artsgarden.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with the Indy Arts Council on Art & Soul. This partnership embodies our shared commitment to celebrating and uplifting the vibrant arts community in Indianapolis,” Kristian Little Stricklen, president of Madam Walker Legacy Center, said in a statement. “Together, I have no doubt we will create transformative experiences and inspire future generations of artists and cultural leaders.”
The full schedule of Art & Soul events will be announced in January 2025 alongside a list of selected featured artists. For more information, visit indyarts.org.
