Indy Drag Theatre is getting ready to present Hoosiers with a story that will “melt hearts.”

“Frozen: A Drag Parody” hits the stage at the District Theatre for two weekends, on Nov. 14-16 and Nov. 20-23. Co-directed by Dottie B. Minerva and April Rosé, with choreography also by Rosé, the show promises to be a heartwarming adaptation of the hit Disney Musical “Frozen,” offering guests an enchanted evening full of music, sisterhood and magic, according to a press release.

“Frozen is more than a fairytale,” Rosé, who is also IDT’s co-founder, said in a statement. “It’s a story about breaking norms and finding your true power, something that really resonates with us at IDT and as queer people.”

“Frozen: A Drag Parody” is IDT’s final show of the 2025 season and is open to families and children aged 8 and older. Similar to previous productions at IDT, “Frozen: A Drag Parody” aims to be a “celebration and fusion of the traditional art of theatre and exaggerated art of drag,” according to a press release.

The story follows Princess Anna on her journey to save her kingdom, Arendelle, from a perpetual winter unknowingly caused by her sister, Queen Elsa, who possesses ice powers. Along the way, Anna encounters a variety of talking snow-people, reindeer and trolls who teach her the meaning of true love.

IDT is a unique theatre experience, taking drag beyond “the typical nightclub lip-sync” and combining scenes from the live musical and both hit movies. “Frozen: A Drag Parody” is full of spectacular castles, mountains of snow and exciting adventures that explore themes of sisterhood, self-love and chosen family in a parody “meant to spread joy and melt hearts,” according to a press release.

Indy Drag Theatre aspires to offer safety and opportunity for queer Hoosiers and allies to express themselves authentically, artistically and joyously, according to a press release.

“We’re staying true to the original storyline with this production, while adding our own creative touches and magic moments,” Minerva said in a statement.

“Frozen: A Drag Parody” is onstage at the District Theatre Mainstage Nov. 14-16 and Nov. 20-23. The show is approximately two hours, and tickets start at $35. For more information, visit indydragtheatre.org.
