The Vision Zero Task Force will present its proposed Vision Zero Action Plan at a public meeting at 4 p.m. on June 25 in the City-County Council Building. The plan, developed with consultant Burgess & Niple, focuses on strategies to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries in Indianapolis.
LeAndre L. Level Jr. has been introduced as the city’s first Vision Zero administrator. Level, previous deputy chief of staff in the City of Lawrence, brings expertise in government affairs, community engagement and public policy to the role. He will oversee the plan’s implementation, coordinate cross-departmental efforts and ensure progress aligns with Vision Zero principles.

“We are pleased to welcome LeAndre to DPW as the Vision Zero Administrator,” said Todd Wilson, director of the Indianapolis Department of Public Works. “With his experience working in municipal government and leading community-driven initiatives, we believe he will effectively support the Vision Zero Taskforce and agencies in addressing the preventable tragedies we continue to see on our roadways while prioritizing collaboration.”
City-County Councilor John Barth, chair of the Vision Zero Task Force, emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving Vision Zero’s goals.

“This role requires someone to wake up every day thinking about how to make our roadways safer. I’m excited that LeAndre has taken on this role as we move this critical work forward,” he said.
The Vision Zero Action Plan incorporates data-driven recommendations, sets timelines for execution, and identifies key stakeholders. It joins other traffic safety initiatives, including the city’s Complete Streets program and a $1 billion capital plan aimed at improving transportation infrastructure.
