NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are opening mixed, a day after their longest losing streak since August. McDonald’s was the biggest decliner in the Dow Jones industrial average after reporting weak sales.
Exxon Mobil was the biggest gainer in the Dow. Oil prices spiked after an unexpected decision by oil ministers at an OPEC meeting to keep output at current levels. Investors had been hoping the cartel would increase output to help bring down the price of crude.
The Dow Jones industrial average is up less than a point at 12,069 in early trading Wednesday.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index is down 1 at 1,283. The Nasdaq composite is down 8, or 0.3 percent, at 2,693.
