Family-friendly fun at the Main Event

Want a night out that both the young and young-at-heart will enjoy? Look no further than the Main Event, a new venue that aims to be Indianapolis one-stop entertainment destination. Located conveniently on East 82nd Street in the space previously occupied by Latitude 39, the Main Event has a sit-down restaurant, full bar, bowling alley, multi-level laser tag, video games and even a rock-climbing wall. I had the opportunity to check out the Main Event during its grand opening, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed myself.

Let’s start with the food. For a venue that offers so much more than dining, I was surprised at the variety of options available on their menu, from coconut shrimp to chicken primavera. Most impressively, the vast majority of menu items is priced under $15, making it an affordable option. They have plenty of sharable appetizers priced under $10, and special menu items are available for those who book events. Wash your dinner down with a wide selection cocktails, beer, wine and Pepsi products.

After filling myself up on food, I was ready to have a good time. I played a few games — including Skee-Ball and Coin Pusher — and made my way over to the laser tag room, where I geared up to defend myself against the other players. I had a blast in the two-level laser tag room running from two young boys who were taking the game very seriously.

I had to leave not long after my game of laser tag. I will have to come back to try out the 28-feet-tall rock climbing arena, high-tech bowling alley and pool tables. I will take advantage of the fact that the Main Event is making food and fun more affordable with their Food and Fun combo promotion. For $17.95, visitors can select a meal and also receive a $10 fun card to use on any of the Main Events entertainment options. Meal options for this promotion include a 10-inch meat eater’s pizza, grilled top sirloin and fries, or a bacon cheddar burger and fries.

If you are looking for fun that the entire family can enjoy, check out the Main Event.
