McDonald’s Restaurants of Central Indiana will present a donation of $25,000 to the Indiana State Fair Relief Fund in memory of those who lost their lives in the tragic collapse of the Indiana State Fair concert stage.

McDonald’s owner/operators of Central Indiana teamed up to assist those affected by the incident. On Sept. 10 a lump sum of $25,000 was raised because $1 from every Real Fruit Smoothie sold that day was donated to the Indiana State Fair Relief Fund. The community response was overwhelming, as a flurry of people visited Central Indiana McDonald’s locations to help out by enjoying a sweet treat.

The Indiana State Fair Remembrance Fund was the official fund for the victims of the catastrophe and was set up in partnership with the Indiana State Fair Commission and the Indiana State Fair Foundation. The funds were recently transferred to the Indiana State Fair Relief Fund. This fund has been used to help the families of those who died at the state fair, in addition to the injured and their families.

“The unfortunate collapse of the stage at the fairgrounds was a calamity that affected the entire Indianapolis community,” said James Poore, McDonald’s Restaurants of Central Indiana co-op president and owner/operator. “As a strong business presence in the community, it was and is our duty and desire to help.”
