Franklin University of Ohio hired Dr. Michael Szakaly to serve as dean of its new Indianapolis campus, the not-for-profit educator announced recently.
Szakaly previously served as the business school dean at Ivy Tech Community College’s east-central region, which includes Anderson, Marion and Muncie. Szakaly will oversee day-to-day operations in Indianapolis and try to form partnerships with local chambers of commerce, economic development organizations and other universities to shape Franklin’s adult-education programs.
Joining Szakaly in the Indianapolis office are Wes Mizelle, director of corporate and community relations, and Todd Kendall, director of Indianapolis relations. Mizelle is responsible for helping to form partnerships and relationships with key industry and community leaders within Central Indiana. Kendall serves as liaison to students and administrators within the Ivy Tech Community College system, facilitating the transfer of students looking to pursue a four-year degree at Franklin University’s Indianapolis location. He has 10 years of experience in education, most recently serving as Social Studies facilitator at the Decatur Discovery Academy in Indianapolis, Ind.
The University plans to offer its largest and most popular undergraduate programs such as business and accounting, in addition to a master’s in business administration program, beginning in the fall term.
